Dear Friends,

Just like the children we serve, we don’t sit still at Akron Children’s Hospital.

In 2016, we made great strides to advance our vision of becoming the preeminent pediatric provider of choice for families in our region and beyond. With a constant eye on quality, patient experience and innovation, we invested in resources to ensure we’re ready with the right caregiver at the right time in the right place.

Besides our 2 hospital campuses with inpatient, emergency and outpatient care, we now have 4 urgent care centers and 27 pediatrician offices. We introduced new services such as dental care, dermatology and interventional radiology, and we expanded services at our specialty care centers and partner facilities throughout northern Ohio.

We are building a foundation for population health, based on our outstanding network, to give children a medical home. With a continuum of care to help families manage issues such as diabetes, asthma, behavioral health or obesity, we want to help kids reach their full potential.

We’re proud that our foundational promises greeted every child at the more than 1 million patient visits we provided last year. We could not keep those promises without our dedicated staff and faithful supporters.

In response to our growing patient population, we launched building expansions on our Beeghly and Akron campuses. We’re also investing in the future of pediatric medicine with increased funding for our Rebecca D. Considine Research Institute.

We were pleased to share our patient heroes’ inspiring stories with the thousands of people attending the Akron Children’s Hospital Akron Marathon Race Series. What a wonderful way to bring communities together to celebrate courage and promote health and fitness, plus raise money for our programs and services.

We moved steadily forward in 2016 and will continue our progress to best serve our patient families. Thanks to the support of our talented people and caring communities, we remain committed to being an independent, integrated pediatric healthcare delivery system dedicated to providing high-quality, value-based care.
